How to Get Free Beauty Samples with Influenster

free samples in exchange for an honest review

Alright, friends. I’m about to tell you how you can get free stuff for not that much effort. It’s a website called Influenster.

Here’s how it works:

  1. You create an account at

  2. You connect your social profiles (so they can understand how far your reviews might reach) and tell them about yourself.

  3. If they think an upcoming campaign fits with the types of products you like to use (and you fit the profile the sample company is looking for), they email you a survey invitation. This helps them understand if you’re the right demographic for the particular product that campaign is featuring. At the end of the survey, you agree to test and review the products they send you.

  4. If they think you’re a good fit for the campaign, you’re in! They’ll mail you a “Voxbox,” aka a box of free samples! Usually these are beauty products (I’ve gotten makeup, charcoal masks, etc.), but I’ve also gotten snacks and other random things like that.

  5. You have a few weeks to test the products out. You get “points” toward “badges” on Influenster’s website for different ways you engage. For example, they might give you points for posting a photo on Instagram, putting a review up on, etc. The more points you earn, the more likely you are to be chosen for future Voxboxes.

  6. After the campaign is over, they email you a follow-up survey to understand what you did or didn’t like about the products and to gauge how likely you are to buy the product in the future. If you don’t fill out the follow-up survey, you won’t be eligible for future Voxboxes.

Influenster has a lot of other great things going for it besides the Voxboxes, too. It’s got an entire internal directory of product reviews and recommendations from real people who’ve tried them. It includes all sorts of products, even the ones that don’t go out through Voxboxes (like…PBR and the iPhone X).

They have a cashback program through Ebates, too. You sign up for the Influenster cashback program through the stores you’re already shopping at and the products you’re already buying. (Um, 5% cash back at Amazon? I’m here for it.)

Soooo…yeah. There’s really no downside here, from what I can tell. Questions? Hit me in the comments!
